There was no rest for the weary when it came to the end of March and beginning of April. Coming directly on the heals of the BrickFair FXBG 2025 convention March 28 -31, NOVA-LUG members displayed at AwesomeCon 2025 in Washington D.C. and came together for our April monthly meeting.
In April, we were focused on resetting from our winter/spring shows and preparing for the Summer, culminating in BrickFair Chantilly in August. With much on our plates, the best part of our monthly meetings continues to be the time we get to spend together sharing, laughing, and building community around the unlimited creativity of LEGO bricks.
For our March Monthly MOC Challenge, members built MOCs honoring famous women, celebrating Women’s History Month. The builds were also part of our semi-monthly library display which in April was at the Thomas Jefferson Library. Congratulations to Tom H. whose build featured Rosie the Riveter!
Celebrating the season of Cherry Blossoms in Washington, D.C. this month, our activity at the April meeting featured a speed build of microscale trees. These miniature cherry blossoms were added to the Tidal Basin display which is on display at the Brickmania Capital Store through June.
Upcoming display opportunities under consideration and discussion were the Potomac Mills LEGO Store cubby, the Claude Moore Rec Center Play All Day event, Air and Space in Miniature, the Thomas Jefferson Library case, the Montgomery Mall Pride month display, the Dolley Madison Library, and the Tidal Basin, Cobra Island, and Monster Trucks collaborations.
We had 24 participants join us at the Brickmania Capital Store for our April 2025 meeting. Huge thanks to the staff and the public visitors who stopped in and asked about the club!
